Meyers died at his home in Confluence, June 12, 1941. He was born near Friendsville, Md., Dec. 23, 1868, a son of Elijah and Susan Meyers of Garrett County, Md., a pioneer family of Western Maryland. He was a blacksmith by trade. He married Mary Thomas of Garrett County January 21, 1894. To this union six children were born, Roy W. of Canton, Ohio, Elijah Ray of Paris, Ohio, Charles of Acosta, Pa., Mrs. Edna Younkin of Confluence and Mrs. Iva Kreger of Confluence, and one daughter deceased. Ten grandchildren and the following brothers and sisters also survive: J. Stanley Meyers, Canton, Ohio; Walter G. Meyers, Oakland, Md.; Mrs. Mary E. Bowling, Minerva, Ohio, and Mrs. Hannah Loudermilk of Franzee Ridge. Funeral and burial was conducted at Asherglade Church, Garrett County, Maryland, on Sunday, June 15, Rev. J. O. Martin officiating. Mr. Meyers worked for J. B. Davis and Sons for many years until failing health prevented him. He was a good husband and a kind father, loved and respected by all who knew him. He loved his Saviour and Lord and died with implicit faith that some day he would go to the mansion on high that Jesus had prepared for his disciples. Meyersdale Republican, June 19, 1941
