She was the only daughter of the late Colonel John R. and Mrs. Mary Kiernan Edie. Her father won distinction as an officer in the Union Army during the Civil War. After he had retired from the military service, Col. Edie resumed the practice of law in Somerset and was elected both as a member of Congress and District Attorney of Somerset County. Mrs. Meyers' husband, a brother of Miss Ida Meyers of Meyersdale, passed away in 1890. Since her bereavement she made her home with her only son, Attorney Rufus Edie Meyers, who survives, along with a nephew, Major John R. Edie, U.S.A., of Washington, D.C., and a niece, Mrs. Julia O'Donnell, also of Washington, D.C. Mrs. Meyers' only brother, Major John R. Edie, a graduate of West Point Military Academy, died many years ago. Mrs. Meyers was a woman of culture and refinement and her society was enjoyed by all who came in contact with her. Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Dr. I. Hess Wagner, pastor of Trinity Lutheran Church, Somerset. Meyersdale Republican, November 3, 1932
