MEYERS Dies As Result of Self-Inflicted Gun Shot Wound William R. Meyers, aged 39 years, died in the Somerset Community Hospital, on Wednesday evening, November 19, of wounds resulting from a self-inflicted gun shot. According to reports of state police who investigated, Meyers attempted to take his own life, using a 12-guage shot-gun. He had not been well recently and apparently attempted ending his life in a fit of despondency, the bullet entering his left chest. He was found on Tuesday evening in his car outside the B & O Restaurant, Somerset, which is operated by his wife, and was admitted to the Somerset Community Hospital about 7 p.m. He had been employed at the Frantz Distillery, near Berlin. In addition to his wife, Mabel (Butler) Meyers, he is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Ed R. Meyers, Meyersdale R.D. 2, and five children - Betty of the state of California, Shirley, Paul, Billy and John, at home. Five brothers and one sister also survive. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Saturday, at his parental home, with Rev. J. Ewing Jones officiating. Interment will be made in Union Cemetery, under the direction of H. R. Konhaus.
