Michaels, who for many years worked in the mines of the Elk Lick Coal Region, and owned the tract of land near the south boundary of Salisbury, on which the Harry Walker residence now stands, died in West Newton, near the midnight hour, Feb. 11, 1943, at a very advanced age. His death was caused by appoplexy, and his body was prepared for burial by a West Newton mortician, who brought it to the funeral home of Stanley M. Thomas, Salisbury mortician, who had charge of the burial. A short prayer service took place there last Saturday, a minister from West Newton officiated. The service was attended by James Michaels of Somerset, accompanied by his wife and about a half-dozen other persons not known to anyone here. Burial was in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, beside the grave of the decedent's wife, who died and was brought here for burial some years ago. The day was very cold and stormy when Mr. Michaels was buried, and the few relatives and friends in attendance, hastened to their homes immediately after his casket was lowered into the grave. No other data concerning surviving relatives or the deceased are available. The family left here many years ago, soon after a fire burned their dwelling place to the ground.
