Born July 3, 1953, in Meyersdale, a son of Edgar Lee and Janet (Smith) Miller. Preceded in death by his father; his grandmother, Ruth (Saylor) Smith; and mother-in-law, Martha (Nider) Nedrow. He is survived by his mother; his best friend and wife of 29 years, Janice (Nedrow) Miller; children, Angie Rigo, married to Joseph, Somerset; Jessica, Lucas and Andy Miller and his fiancˇe, Katie Fisher, all of Fairhope; grandchildren, Sydney, Cameron, Taylor, Alivia, and Antonio; grandfather, Harry O. Smith; his aunt, Barb Scheller and husband, Ben; two brothers-in- law and three sisters-in-law; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers and friends. He is also survived by his buddy, "Huck," who was always waiting by the front door for him to fix the fire, feed the cows, and go for a ride. Bobby started working on his family farm when he was only 6 years old. He was a 1971 graduate of Berlin Brothersvalley High School. He joined the Navy at the age of 17 and attended boot camp in Illinois and "A" and "C" school in New Jersey. His homeport was in Norfolk, Va., but most of his time was spent on the USS America aircraft carrier. He was in the Gulf of Tonkin, Vietnam, the Philippines, Hong Kong, Singapore, Spain, France, Greece, England and Turkey. He received numerous medals and a citation during his cruises of duty. After his discharge, he returned to Fairhope and took over the family farm. He was a dairy farmer until 1991 when he started working for the Berlin Brothersvalley School District. He continued working on his farm and at the school, averaging 70 hours a week. Member of the New Baltimore Sportsmen's Club and a lifetime member of the VFW. Bobby founded the Panther Run Hunting Club. He enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren, friends, and dog. He loved hunting wild game, Morel mushrooms, drinking a cold Miller High Life, and was a die-hard Steelers fan. He also enjoyed preparing the school's athletic fields for sporting events. A lifetime dream of his came true when he drove across the country to Alaska with his youngest son. There will be no funeral service. The family will receive friends from 5 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Deaner Funeral Home, Berlin. A "Celebration of Life" party will be held at his hunting cabin on July 3, which would have been his 55th birthday. The family is encouraging all who knew him to please come and celebrate with them. Bobby loved life and lived it to the fullest. Remember him with smiles and laughter. His family has established the "Bobby Miller Athletic Scholarship" fund with the Berlin Brothersvalley School District. Donations may be sent to the school in care of Greg Beals.
