"Abe" Miller Sr., 88, Cambridge Drive, Davidsville, formerly of the Somerset Pike, died April 22, 2004, at Memorial Medical Center. Born Feb. 14, 1916, in Johnstown, son of Nelson and Edna (Brant) Miller. Preceded in death by parents; sister, Mary Trexel and brother, Ray Miller. Survived by loving wife of 63 years, the former Helen Dennison, originally from Bedford; daughters, Mary Ann Kerr, Johnstown, and Judy L. married to Robert Traup, originally from Rockwood, now both residing in Lancaster; and son, Charles D. Miller Jr., Somerset. Also survived by seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; three step great-grandchildren; sister, Ruth Wacker, Johnstown and numerous nieces and nephews. Member of the former Mount Zion Lutheran Church, Jenner Township. A 1934 graduate of Ferndale High School, where he played football. Former member of the Ferndale Sportsmen Club. Retired locomotive engineer for the Conemaugh and Black Lick Railroad with 39 years of service. Crafted homemade furniture. Avid hunter and fisherman, who also loved his garden and flowers. Loved raising and training beagles. Friends received from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday and until the time of service at 1 p.m. Sunday at the Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell. The Rev. C.J. Ickes officiating. Interment, IOOF Cemetery Berlin. Memorials may be given to the charity of choice. 04/24/2004 Daily American
