Miller, 79, Susquehanna St., Boswell, went to be with his Lord on Jan. 9, 2001, at Select Speciality Hospital, Johnstown. Born Dec. 20, 1921, in Boswell, son of Jacob and Stella (Barton) Miller. Preceded in death by parents; infant daughter, Charlene Marie Miller; several infant sisters; infant brother; sisters: Louise Persuhn and Catherine Fleegle; and brother, William. Survived by former wife, Mabel (Barber) Merriman, Erie; children: Sandra Rae, wife of the Rev. Dennis Godin, Jennerstown; and Douglas Charles Miller and wife, the former Sandy Tinkey, at home; special granddaughter, Angela Godin; brother, Ralph and wife, Florence, and sister, Margaret Baroni, both of Boswell; "baby sister," Beaulah Fleegle, Stoystown; brother-in-law, Ralph "Racky" Persuhn, Boswell and numerous nieces and nephews. Had been an active member of the Boswell Church of God and the North East (PA) Church of God, Erie County. Taught adult Sunday school classes for over 60 years and was a song leader during worship services for many years. U.S. Army Veteran of China-Burma-India theater of operations. Recipient of the Bronze Star. Former employee of Hays Manufacturing, Erie and retired custodian for North Star Central Elementary School, Boswell. Public visitation from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main St., Boswell, where a private family service will be held Friday, with the Rev. Gregory Stauffer officiating.
