Largent of Benwood, W.Va. Mr. Largent was headed west towards his home, and was dropping down to the foot of Somerfield hill, when the child, who had been standing on the south side of the highway, darted across the roadway directly in front of the car. The car struck the child, throwing her for about 20 feet in front of the car. A fractured skull and a broken neck resulted in instant death. Surviving the child is her mother, one brother, Richard Miller, Jr., and one sister, Evelyn Miller. The father was killed in a mine accident in Fayette County about five years ago. Funeral services were held at the home of the grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Lancaster, on Wednesday afternoon, in charge of Rev. H. F. Pollock of the Methodist Episcopal Church. Coroner Emily B. Fluck of Somerset held an inquest on Monday afternoon, and the verdict rendered completely exonerated the driver, on the ground that the accident was entirely unavoidable on his part.
