Miller, 69, of 137 Harrison Ave., Somerset, died Nov. 8, 1987, at Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. Born Nov. 1, 1918, in Somerset Township, Somerset County, a son of Franklin Pierce and Annie (Baker) Miller. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by wife, the former Mabel Vought; and these children: Linda A., wife of Randall Whipkey, Columbia, Md.; Peter A., married to former Gloria Zanoni, Somerset; these grandchildren: Ian and Chad Whipkey, Courtney and Ryan Miller. Brother of: Ross A. and Luther P., both of Somerset; Clyde R, New Brighton. Active member of First Casebeer Evangelical Lutheran church, where he served as Sunday school teacher and superintendent on church council, as lay president and current president of cemetery association. Also member of: Somerset Post 554, VFW; Somerset Rotary; Somerset County Historical and Genealogical Society; Somerset Lodge 358 F&AM; Somerset County shrine Club; Jaffa Temple, Altoona; and Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Pittsburgh Valley; and Pennsylvania Society of the Sons of the American Revolution; and past president of the Somerset County Sons of the American Revolution. Graduate of Somerset High School Class of 1935. Attended Indiana State Teachers College. Taught school at Fairhope and Walker Grove from 1939-43. Began working at Somerset Post Office in 1946, where he held various positions including postmaster from 1973-83. Served several years as president of Somerset County Postmastersi Association. Also past president of Somerset PTA. Army veteran of World War II. Friends received 7-9 p.m. Tuesday at Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, where Masonic service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday. Service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Casebeer Church, where visitation will also be held from 10:30 a.m. until time of service, the Rev. George Walton officiating. Interment, church cemetery.
