He had been in ill health for ten years. He was the son of William H. and the late Myrtle Miller, and was born at Markleton, Pa., Sept. 17, 1894. Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Ethel Stanton Miller, and daughter, Vera Virginia, and two sons, W. Belmont, at home, and Pfc. Fay L. Miller Jr., stationed at Hackenhein, Germany, at present. Surviving also are his father and sisters, Misses Ethel and Eleanor Miller, Meyersdale, and Mrs. Ward Compton of Salisbury R.D., and three brothers, Wayne, of Meyersdale; Earl K., Frostburg, and Dalton C. Miller, Cumberland. Mr. Miller was a veteran of World War I. He enlisted in April 1917 in the Maryland National Guard which later became the 115th Infantry regiment of the 29th Division. He fought overseas one year. He was a member of Proctor Kildow Post, Oakland, American Legion, and Earl H. Opel Post of Salisbury. He was a citizen of Grantsville, Md., for 22 years, having been employed by the Motor Service Co. for a number of years, and operated his own business for five years. He was a member of the Methodist Church, the Town Council and the Rotary Club. Mr. Miller had many friends and was a good citizen. Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at the family home, with Rev. Robert Henson officiating. Pallbearers were Stewart Rodamer, Harvey Gortner, C. O. Bender, Olen H. Yoder, L. G. Bittinger and Nevin Broadwater. Members of Earl H. Opel Post, Salisbury, attended in a body and held a ceremony at the cemetery, closing with a salute by a firing squad and taps. Interment was in the Grantsville Cemetery. Among those attending Mr. Miller's funeral were: William Miller and daughters, Ethel and Eleanor, and Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Miller, Meyersdale; Mr. and Mrs. Ward Compton, Salisbury R.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller and daughters, Edith and Ruth, Frostburg; Mr. and Mrs. Dalton Miller and Mr. and Mrs. Benny McElwee, Cumberland; Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Engle and Mrs. Jacob Mummau, Berlin, Pa., R.D.; Mr. and Mrs. Russell Miller, Charleroi, Pa.; Mr. and Mrs. Charles Miller, Connellsville, Pa.; Ray Stanton, Hyattsville, Md.; Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Stanton, Mrs. Florence Maurer, Oakland; Mrs. Ruth Stanton Smouse, Cumberland; Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Smouse, Everett, Pa.; Lawrence Fraley and Joseph Hinebaugh, Oakland.
