Miller, 85, of Springs, Star Route, died Sept. 4, 1979, near his home. Born Dec. 15, 1893, in Keyser's Ridge, Md., son of the late Joseph and Viola (Wilburn) Miller. Preceded in death by his wife, the former Gertrude Poleman. Survived by three sons: John E. Miller, Salisbury RD 1; Max H. Miller, Salisbury; and Lee M. Miller, of Springs Star Route; also two daughters: Mrs. Ardith M. Murray, Salisbury; and Mrs. Wilma L. Robertson, of Meyersdale; also 15 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and one great-great-granddaughter. He was a member of the Salisbury Church of the Brethren and a charter member of the Salisbury American, Legion. A veteran of World War I, he served as a Salisbury-Elk Lick school director for 24 years. He operated a sawmill since 1926. Friends will be received after 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury, where services will be held Thursday at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Daniel J. Whitacre officiating.
