   John Edward Miller, son of Menno and Cora Miller, passed away on 
  August 2, 2007 after a brief illness. He was 89 years of age. Married 
  to Martha Harrison-Miller for four years, he spent the last 19 years of 
  his life in Rio Rancho, New Mexico.
  Although born in Detroit, Michigan, John Edward spent his early years 
  in Salsbury.
  In 1937, he entered a GM contest to design a futuristic car model and 
  was awarded with the opportunity to work on the 1939 World's Fair in 
  New York City, constructing the General Motors exhibition.
  As a young man, he attended the Corcoran School of Art in Washington, 
  DC and The Detroit Institute of Arts where he studied drawing and 
  painting. After his retirement as a graphic artist in Saginaw 
  Michigan, he enjoyed teaching watercolor through Delta Community 
  College in the Tri-city area.
  John Edward, along with Jane Miller, his wife of 54 years, was one of 
  the original founders of Studio 23-Community Arts Center in Bay City, 
  Michigan.
  He painted and exhibited his watercolors and enjoyed woodworking 
  activities throughout his lifetime. In New Mexico, he was one of the 
  regular exhibitors in the Placitas Artist Series. Throughout his life, 
  he expressed himself through his art and craft.
  John Edward is survived by his wife, Martha, his daughter Kathryn Jane 
  Miller and son-in-law, Michael L. DeLongchamp of Placitas New Mexico.
  A Memorial service and celebration of John's life will take place at 
  the Las Placitas Presbyterian Church in Placitas, NM on August 30, 2007 
  at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the church center for family and friends.
