John Miller, 90, of 207 Ottawa Street, Johnstown, died April 26, 1974, at home. Born Jan. 9, 1879, in Eagleville, Centre County, he was a son of Lewis and Caroline (Workman) Miller. He was preceded in death by his wife, the former Elizabeth Wineberg, and daughter, Blanche. Surviving are a daughter, Mary A., wife of Lester Livingston, Johnstown; a brother, A.J.B. Miller, and a sister, Mrs. Mabel Quinn, both of Canton, Ohio. Rev. Miller was pastor emeritus of Trinity United Methodist Church, Johnstown, and had served the former Evangelical and Evangelical United Brethren churches for 50 years. He was licensed by the Evangelical Church in 1904; was ordained a deacon in 1910 and an elder in 1923. His former pastorates included Ligonier, Somerset, Garrett, Meyersdale, Berlin, Rockwood and Cherry Tree. After retiring in 1950, he conducted evangelistic meetings at many churches and throughout the Commonwealth and in Florida, California, Ohio and New York. Funeral service was held Monday morning in Trinity United Methodist Church, Johnstown, with the Rev. Robert Baker officiating. Further service was held Monday afternoon in Trinity United Methodist Church in DuBois. Private interment in Rumbarger Cemetery, DuBois. Meyersdale Republican, May 2, 1974 [M1720]
