(Jack) Miller, 65, of Marion, N.C. died Dec. 22, 1979 in Asheville, Va., Medical Center following an extended illness. Dr. Miller retired Oct. 1, 1974 after 30 years of practice in Marion. He was a graduate of Somerset High School, Class of 1932 and of the Medical Center of Virginia. He served internships with the Naval Hospital in Staten Island, N.Y. and Rex Hospital in Raleigh, N.C. During World War II he was a Naval officer in the Pacific Theatre and in the Naval Hospital in Charleston, S.C. He continued his education after the war at the Georgia Baptist Hospital in Atlanta and at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. He was a deacon and member of the First Presbyterian Church in Marion, a director of First Federal Savings and Loan, and a member of the American Medical Association. Surviving are his wife, Jane Hartsell Miller; two sons, Lloyd Davis Miller, Jr. and David Hartsell Miller of Asheville; three sisters, Agnes Harpine of Harrisonburg, Va., Margaret Glessner of Bristol, Tenn., and Virginia Worley of Raleigh, N.C.; a brother, Allan Miller, Bristol, Va. and a brother-in-law, Alvin S. Glessner, Sr., Somerset. Memorial services were held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 24, 1979, in the First Presbyterian Church, Marion, N.C. Daily American, January 7, 1980 [M1777]
