Miller, 76, of West Union Street, Somerset, died Aug. 31, 1977, at his residence. He was born Oct. 10, 1900, in Somerset and was the son of Joseph and Mary (Foust) Miller. He was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth M. (Myers) Miller, March 18, 1977, and two brothers: Elrod and Forrest. Survived by these children: Clyde E. of Berlin; Lester M. of Friedens; Neil R. of Somerset; Gladys, wife of Ray Spangler, of Friedens RD 2; and Dolores, wife of William Eckman, of LaPlata, Md. 11 grandchildren and three great grandchildren. One sister, Mrs. Homer Brick of Somerset. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church, life member and former chief of Somerset volunteer Fire Department, past-president of Somerset County Fireman's Association, member of Western Pennsylvania Firemen's Association, organized the first county fire school, and a retired employe [sic] of Somerset Borough. Friends are being received after 7 p.m. Thursday in Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where services will be conducted at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. The Rev. H. James Meyers, officiating. Interment, Mt. Zion Cemetery. Somerset Volunteer Fire Department will conduct memorial services 7:30 p.m., Friday, in the Funeral Home. The Republic, September, 3, 1977 [M1906]
