Miller, died at her home in Carleton, Neb., Feb. 29, 1948, at the great age of 96 years, 9 months and 7 days. She was born near Berlin, Pa., a daughter of Jacob J. and Dinah Glessner. She was married to Samuel A. Miller, also a native of Berlin, Pa., community, on Jan. 31, 1872. They lived on a farm near Berlin for several years before they moved to a farm near Waterloo, Iowa, where they remained for a few years before they again answered the call of "Westward ho" in the spring of 1885, and located on a farm adjoining the village of Carleton, Neb., where she spent the remainder of her long life. She was the mother of eight children, and was preceded in death by her husband; one son, Jacob M., and two daughters, Mrs. Anna Fitton and Mrs. Eva Bates. Surviving are two daughters, Katie, wife of Wilson Saylor, Meyersdale, and Mrs. Sade Becke, Glendale, Calif.; three sons, Howard C., Mankato, Minn.; Mahlon G., Los Angeles, Calif., and Samuel L., Carleton, Neb.; seven grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. She was a member of the Brethren church since her childhood. Funeral services were held in the Carleton Brethren church on Wednesday afternoon, March 3. Rev. H. M. Oberholtzer, in charge of the services, was assisted by Rev. Cecil Johnson. Burial was in the Carleton cemetery. Mrs. Ramona Beavers and Mrs. Hertha Damm furnished the music, with Mrs. V. D. Douglas at the piano. Pallbearers were H. A. Bice, Ray Hatcliff, W. S. Walker, H. W. Weddel and William Leff. Meyersdale Republican, April 1, 1948
