Miller, retired B. & O. engineer, died about 6 o'clock last Thursday evening in the Memorial Hospital, Cumberland, Md., following an operation there on Tuesday. Mr. Miller was born in Meyersdale March 24, 1863, a son of Manassah and Eliza (Lint) Miller. At the time of his death he was aged 78 years, 7 months and 26 days, and was believed to have been Meyersdale's oldest resident who was born here. He was also one of the town's oldest railroaders, having retired twelve years ago. Mr. Miller is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Kiehm) Miller, with whom he was united in marriage over fifty years ago. They celebrated their golden wedding anniversary just a few months ago. Four children also survive; namely, Newton H. of Pittsburgh; Letha Leif, at home; Hazel Wilmoth, Meyersdale, and Miss Mary E. Miller, at home. One sister, Mrs. Carrie Forney, of Pittsburgh, and four grandsons also survive. He was preceded in death by one son, Oliver, in 1934. Mr. Miller was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Funeral services were conducted at the Miller home on Broadway on Monday afternoon, by Rev. DeWitt L. Miller, pastor of the Church of the Brethren, of which he was a member, assisted by Rev. Nelson C. Brown. Interment was made in the Union Cemetery, in charge of H. R. Konhaus, local mortician. Pallbearers were: Frank Lowery, of Connellsville; John Dahl, Howard Speicher, Lee Saylor, E. J. Herwig and J. E. Leckemby. Meyersdale Republican, November 27, 1941
