  MINERD
  
  Donald E. Minerd, 78, Berlin, died Aug. 24, 2003, at his daughter's
  residence.  Born Jan. 9, 1925, in Salem, son of William and Pearl
  (Johnson) Minerd.  Preceded in death by parents, two brothers: Melvin
  and Paul; six sisters: Ruth Shaffer, Lillian Bailey, Violet Sanner,
  Nellie Bish, Ethel Hetzer and Esther Vesek.  Survived by wife of 57
  years, the former Lucille Schrock; children: Dorothy, wife of Tim
  Maurer, Fairhope; and James, married to the former Barbara Brubaker,
  Ofallion, Ill.; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren.  Brother
  of Bertha Blubaugh, Lima, Ohio.  He was a retired mechanic for
  Pickings Repair Shop.  Army Veteran of World War II.  No viewing or
  receiving of friends.  Friends are invited to attend a memorial
  service at 2 p.m. Friday at Somerset Church of the Brethren, with the
  Rev. Roger Forry officiating.  Interment, Pike Cemetery.  Arrangements
  by George E. Mason Funeral Home.
