Minor, 85, of Rockwood, died July 8, 2003 at Somerset Hospital. Born Oct. 30, 1917 in Rockwood she was a lifelong resident there. The daughter of the late Austin E. and Vina Catherine (Brown) McVicker, she was the sixth of eight children. Her parents, husband Clyde M. Minor; sisters, Edna P. Miller, Eleanor G. Vallas, Ruby E. Seiler, Mary Louise McVicker and brothers Howard "Pat" McVicker and Jack B. McVicker preceded her in death. She is survived by her daughter Vina Kay married to Douglas D. Pritts of Garrett; granddaughter Krista Suzanne married to Robert O. Mathias III of Garrett, one beloved great-granddaughter Lauren Catherine Martha Mathias of Garrett, and one sister Eva Jean married to George Haddad of Pittsburgh. She was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church. Betty was devoted to and took great pride in her family and truly loved them. She loved to sing and play the ukulele, had an avid interest in current events and politics, loved animals and always displayed a wonderful sense of humor, inner strength and independent spirit. We were fortunate to have known this dear lady and she will be greatly missed. Friends will be received Saturday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Miller Funeral Home in Rockwood, followed by the funeral service at 5 p.m. that evening officiated by the Rev. Randall Bain. There will be a private family interment at the IOOF Cemetery in Rockwood. Memorial contributions can be made to Christ United Methodist Church c/o Pastor Randall Bain, Rockwood, Pa.
