(Kaufman) 02/20/07 Daily American Hazel F. (Kaufman) Mishler, 91, Somerset, formerly of Jenner Township, died Feb. 17, 2007, at Siemon Lakeview Manor Estate. Born June 18, 1915, in Conemaugh Township, a daughter of John and Elizabeth (Shaffer) Kaufman. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Algie A., on Oct. 25, 1986; sisters, Luella Berkey, Edna Miltonberger, Grace Kaufman, Mary Knesche, Katie Hoffman, Erma May and Daisy Kocher; and brothers Leon W., The Rev. Martin L., the Rev. Ralph E. and twin brother, Harry. Survived by sons, Thomas J., married to the former Terri Greski, Seymour, Conn., and Fred R., married to the former Susan Gnagy, Somerset; grandchildren, Jeff, Pittsburgh; Becky, married to Bryan DiFebo, Somerset; Mollie and fiance David Hutzel, Berke, Va. and Jerry, married to the former April Herman, Naugatuck, Conn.; and great-grandson, Aiden DiFebo. Sister of John H., married to Marjorie Lantz, Mildred Liska and James W., all of Jenner Township. A 1934 graduate of the former Boswell High School and later graduated from the former Indiana State Teachers College. She earned her master's degree in education from Duke University. She began her teaching career at the one-room Hoffman School. Retired in 1978 after 35 years of service from teaching junior high math and history for the former JBJ School District, later the North Star School District. Member of Jennerstown United Methodist Church, where she played the organ for many years and also taught Sunday school. She sang with the "Kaufman Sisters" at many local functions and also was a member of the Seventh Society of Farm Women. She also enjoyed traveling, music, spending time on the Outer Banks of North Carolina, playing games, reading and spending time with children and grandchildren. Viewing will be held from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Hoffman Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Allegheny Street, Boswell. Viewing also will be held from 10 a.m. Wednesday until the time of service at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Jennerstown United Methodist Church. The Rev. Charles E. Prevot officiating. Interment, Jenner Crossroads Cemetery. Farm Women service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorials to the Regional Hospice at Windber, 600 Somerset Ave., Windber, PA 15963, would be appreciated.
