He was born April 16, 1908, in Confluence, son of the late Frank and Lillie (Hileman) Mitchell. He was preceded in death by first wife, Genevieve McClintock; four brothers and one sister. He is survived by wife, Mary (Whitacre) Mitchell and the following children: Mrs. Dolores Fike of Fort Hill RD 1, Mrs. Lois Boyanowski of Confluence RD 1, Earl of Confluence RD 3, Mrs. Bonnie Watts of Somerset, Marshall E. Rugg of Confluence RD 1, and Virginia, at home. He is also survived by 17 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, brother Harry of Pittsburgh, and three sisters, Mrs. Lina Bittner of Harrisburg, Mrs. Florence Ream of Confluence and Mrs. Reba Coughenour of Confluence RD 3. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Workers; Confluence VFW Post 7250; DAV, Meyersdale Post 127; and Trinity Lutheran Church of Confluence. Friends were received at the Humbert Funeral Home, Confluence, where services were held with the Rev. McCurtis Allison and the Rev. Donald DeHaven officiating. The Republic, November 16, 1978 [M2129]
