MOGNET Fall From Hay Wagon is Fatal Eugene A. Mognet Suffers Broken Neck When Rope Breaks Eugene A. Mognet, 78-year-old Middlecreek Township farmer, was killed in an accident which occurred in his barn about 6 o'clock Wednesday evening. Injuries including a broken neck resulted in his death, Coroner Dosch certified. Riding atop a loaded hay wagon, the aged farmer was suddenly catapulted to the floor when the trip rope which bound the load snapped shortly after the wagon entered the barn. With him at the time were Mr. Mognet's brother, Smith Mognet, also of Middlecreek Township, and Wilson Lyons. Mr. Mognet was a son of James and Marie (Moore) Mognet, both deceased, and was born in Middlecreek Township where he spent his life. He is survived by one son, Clifford, a member of the coast guard, stationed at Benecia, Calif.; his wife, Mrs. Sadie (Miller) Mognet, and by these brothers and sisters: Joseph Mognet, Meyersale; Newton Mognet, Lavansville; Smith K. Mognet, Middlecreek Township; Mrs. Sadie Knepper, Somerset; Peter P. Mognet, Somerset; Miss Mary Mognet, Somerset; Herman B. Mognet, Middlecreek Township. Meyersdale Republican, July 16, 1942
