Mognet Sr., 75, Johnstown, formerly of Rockwood, passed on Aug. 20, 2008, at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center. Born Feb. 1, 1933, in Middlecreek Township, he is the son of the late Harmer and Minnie Bell (Henry) Mognet. He is also preceded in death by his sisters, Thelma Mognet, Ruby Sheets, and Irene Hostetler; brother, Dwight Mognet; and grandchildren, Christopher and Breanne Mognet. He is survived by his children, Larry W. Mognet Jr., Watford City, N.D.; Penny Thomas, Johnstown; Cynthia Kessler, Union, Ky.; and Sgt. Scott Mognet, Nicktown; grandchildren, Timothy, Adam, Eshton, Troy, Jennifer, Lauren, Rebecca, Benjamin, Cassandra, Francis, Mary, and Scott; great-grandchildren, McKenzie and Meaghan; sister, Martha Countryman, Pensacola, Fla.; and many nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean War and was a member of the Johnstown VFW Post 155 and the Johnstown American Legion. He worked at various jobs in his life including operating heavy equipment for the Army Corps of Engineers, a checker for the American Bridge Co., a salesperson for Schwartz Auto Parts, a machinist for Emglo Products, and a truck driver for McQuaide Truck Lines, Fetterolf Mining Co., and Frank Gerney Trucking. He was a member of St. Paul's (Barron's) Lutheran Church in Barronvale and attended Emmanuel Baptist Church in Johnstown. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 And 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset, where a service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday. The Rev. Don Judy officiating. Interment at Barron's Church Cemetery.
