Born Sept. 28, 1920, in Somerset, son of Peter Paul and Edna Florence (Werner) Mognet. Preceded in death by parents. Survived by wife, the former Edna Grace Robinette to whom he was married 60 years; daughters, Mrs. Lance (Patricia) Howell, Erie; and Mrs. Lester (Peggy) Vough, Brookville, Md.; grandchildren, Lisa Brookman, Janice Curtis, Brian Vough and Sharon Vough; great-grandchildren, Faith and Nicolette Brookman and Joy Curtis. Also survived by sisters, Dorothy Christoph, Erie; and Ethel May Woelfel, Bethlehem. A 1940 graduate of Somerset High School, U.S. Navy veteran of World War II where he was the first aviation radio man over the Pacific patrolling in a PBY. Also a member of Sipesville Church of the Brethren where he was a deacon, taught Sunday school, and sang in the choir. He enjoyed astronomy and made his own telescope. Enjoyed gardening and enjoyed music his whole life playing the piano and winning first place at the state level at a Grange competition. Also a life member of the Somerset Historical Society where he served on the board of directors and also a member of the Berlin Historical Society. Friends received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset, and one hour prior to the service, which will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday at the Sipesville Church of the Brethren.
