Mong, 77, of Stoystown died Oct. 22, 1997, at home. Born Nov. 6, 1919, in Stoystown. Son of the late Ellwood and Gladys (Johnson) Mong. Survived by his wife of 55 years, the former Margaret "Peg" Dickey; daughters Stacey, married to Douglas MacBride of Philadelphia, and Paige Minick of Meadville; grandchildren, Andrew and Peter MacBride and William C. Minick, and brother, Quentin, married to the former Jean Lenhart of Muncie, Ind. Owner and operator of the former Mong's Esso/Exxon in Stoystown for 43 years. N.O.A.A. weather observer for many years. A World War II Army veteran, having served with the 304th M.P.E.G. Co. Member of St. Paul's United Church of Christ and Robert P. Hite Post 257, American Legion, both of Stoystown. He loved building model cars and had a genuine love of the automobile. No visitation or viewing. A memorial service and celebration of his life will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Paul's U.C.C. Stoystown, Rev. Paul E. Claycomb. Interment, Odd Fellows Cemetery, Stoystown. Instead of flowers, contributions may be given to Stoystown Charge, U.C.C., or Somerset County S.P.C.A. Arrangements by Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown.
