Monteith, 65, 135 School Ave., Jerome, died Feb. 20, 1986 at Memorial Hospital, Johnstown. Born Dec. 22, 1920, in Greensburg, son of James and Mary (Fleming) Monteith. Preceded in death by father, sons: James, and Pfc. Robert F. II, killed in action in Vietnam Aug. 25, 1966. Survived by mother, Jennerstown; widow, the former Pauline Scruggs, and these children: Sharon, wife of James Williams, Fairfax, Va.; Donna, wife of Dennis Croyle, Stoystown RD 1; David, married to the former Merlene Long, Jerome; Karen, widow of William Coble, Woodbridge, Va.; and JoAnn, wife of David Drake, Fairfax, Va.; 10 grandchildren; also mother-in-law, Edith Scruggs, Keswick, Va. Brother of: Richard, San Diego, Calif.; and James, Jerome. Member of Jerome Post 802 American Legion, and Polish Falcons, Nest 556, Jerome. Navy veteran of World War II, self-employed bricklayer/stonemason. Friends received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Saturday and until time of service at 2 p.m. Sunday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Allegheny Street, Boswell, with the Rev. Gary Blobaum officiating.
