Born Oct. 18, 1910 in Somerset Township, the daughter of John O. and Minnie Pearl (Coleman) Lease. Preceded in death by parents; husband, Ralph Everett Montgomery, who died Nov. 29, 1995; stepdaughter Jean Montgomery; brother, Vernon O. Lease; sisters, Erma Lucille Lease, Beulah Wasconis and Olga Cargill. Survived by children: Caroll L. Montgomery of Friedens, Ms. Kay M. Westerfeld of Towson, Md., Mrs. Judith L. wife of Stephen Hemenway of Marietta, Ga., John R. Montgomery married to the former Maxine Gerhart, Mechanicsburg; nine grandchildren: Mrs. Dean (Allison) Watkins of Naples, Fla., Steven Morocco and wife Donna of Burlington, N.J., Kurt Westerfeld and wife Melanie of Ashburn, Va., Ms. Kirsten Westerfeld of Reistertown, Md., Christopher Hemenway of Marietta, Ga., Michael Hemenway and wife Elizabeth of Marietta, Ga., Stephanie Hemenway of Winter Garden, Fla., Elizabeth Montgomery of Tidiotte, Jonathan Montgomery of Mechanicsburg; three great-grandchildren, Morgan Morocco, Brandon and Eric Westerfeld. Sister of Mrs. Eleanor Mace of Weston, W.Va., Mrs. Mabelle Rovuyak of Listie, Mrs. Maxine Lape of Somerset. A 1928 graduate of Somerset Township High School, a 1930 graduate of the former Indiana State Teachers College, also attended University of Colorado at Boulder. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church. Retired as an Elementary School Teacher. She had started the first Friedens Mothers Club. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Service will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday at Friedens Lutheran Church with the Rev. Edward V. DeVore officiating. Interment Friedens Cemetery. Contributions may be sent to Friedens Lutheran Church, 131 Main St., Friedens, Pa. 15541. There will be viewing at the church one hour prior to the service. Daily American, February 27, 2003 [M2193]
