Born February 2, 1925 in Hollidaysburg, son of George Anthony Sr. and Elizabeth Nofsker (Hanley) Montgomery. Preceded in death by parents, and sister, Margaret G. Hoover. Survived by wife the former Caroll Lynn Montgomery, children: Commander George A. Montgomery III U.S. Navy RET, Meridian, Miss.; Dana M. wife of Judge Hiram Carpenter, Hollidaysburg; Thaddeus S. Montgomery, Decatur, Ala.; Mark E. Montgomery, Edmond, Okla.; Russell J. Montgomery, Esquire, Altoona; Richard G. Montgomery, Pittsburgh; Matthew C. Montgomery, Pittsburgh; step children: Lynn Allison wife of Dean E. Watkins, Cascais, Portugal and Steve E. Morocco, Egg Harbor, N.J.; grandchildren: Thaddeus II, Kristin, Stephanie, Jenna, Ryan, Megan and Anastasia Montgomery; Mary Elizabeth, Katherine, Jennifer, Hiram A. IV, Sara and Gordon Carpenter. Brother of Miss Joanna L. Montgomery, Elizabethtown. A 1942 graduate of Hollidaysburg High School, 1951 graduate of Juniata College, 1955 graduate of Jefferson Medical School. Veteran of the U.S. Navy during WW II serving in the Pacific Theater on the USS Marathon as an electrician. He was a general practioner [sic] in Altoona 1956-1959, urologist 1958-1976; Allegheny Hospital, Pittsburgh; 1976 to present in Somerset. Member of Friedens Lutheran Church, Portage Lodge F & AM of Hollidaysburg, Jaffa Shrine, Somerset County Medical Society, PA Medical Society, American Medical Society, Past Board Member of PA Urological Board, American Legion Post 181, Somerset, Somerset Country Club, and Somerset County Aero Club. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in the Hauger-Zeigler Funeral Home, Somerset. Services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at Friedens Lutheran Church, Friedens with the Rev. James R. Ling officiating. Viewing at the church from 10 a.m., until time of service. Interment, Somerset County Memorial Park.
