Moore, 93, of Somerset RD 6, died March 9, 1993, at the Somerset Hospital. He was born Sept. 21, 1899, in Koontown, son of the late Wesley and Lydia (Knupp) Moore. Preceded in death by brothers, Wilbur, Alfred, Harry, George, Russell and Ernest Moore, and sisters, Isofene, Ivy, Ida and Mary. Survived by his wife of 60 years, the former Hazel Cane, and the following children: Alvin W. Moore, married to the former Rhonda Williams of East Freedom; Donald B. Moore, married to the former Ruth A. Miller of Rockwood RD 2; Mrs. Charles (Nancy) Spangler of Stoystown RD 3, and Mrs. Paul (Lois) Conley of Somerset RD 6; also 27 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren. Employed as a sawyer until retirement. Former road supervisor for Middlecreek Township and former forest fire warden. One of the founders of New Centerville Farmers' and Threshermen's Jubilee. Friends will be received from 3 to 5 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday (today) at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, where funeral services will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, with Rev. Gerald Deffenbaugh officiating. Interment, Tinkey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Geiger Church of the Brethren, Friedens, RD 1.
