The victim suffered a fracture of the neck and was dead when admitted to the Somerset Community Hospital. Earl Davis, of Somerset, driver of the coal truck, was arrested by State Police after the accident and was committed to the Somerset County jail, pending a hearing on a charge of involuntary manslaughter. Edward Moore and his son, Lloyd M. Moore, and Lester Gardner, of Somerset R.D. No. 5, left their home Wednesday morning to attend a public sale. They were traveling east when the coal truck, driven by Davis and going west on the highway, attempted to pass a truck loaded with timber. The Davis truck is reported to have crashed head-on into the car operated by Lloyd Moore, which was turned over. Lester Gardner, who was riding in the front seat of the Moore car, escaped with minor bruises and lacerations, caused by flying glass. Lloyd Moore also suffered only a few minor scratches, but the car was badly damaged. Edward Moore was wedged between the roof of the car and the window, with his neck broken. State Police were on the scene a short time after the accident. Edward Moore was a son of Peter and Susan (Miller) Moore, both deceased, and was born October 9, 1867. He was the caretaker and farmer for the Frauenheim mine at Edie for several years. Surviving are his wife, Lavine (Cramer) Moore, and these children: Elmer, Lloyd and Jacob, all of Edie, and Harry, of Berlin. Two brothers, Nelson, of Jefferson Township, and Albert, of Kregar, Westmoreland County, also survive. Meyersdale Republican, March 6, 1930
