"Vern" Moore, 68, of Somerset RD 3 died Aug. 21, 1996, in his home. Born Sept. 12, 1927, in Lincoln Township, Somerset County. Son of the late Elmer C. and Kathryn B. (Suter) Moore. Preceded in death by brother, Elwood, and sisters: Stella Emert, Becky St.Clair and Althea Ogline Baker. Survived by his wife, the former Emma (Shaulis) Moore; daughter, Beverly J., former wife of Kenneth B. Phillippi, Somerset RD 3; a foster daughter, Mary L. Shultz, Berlin; three grandchildren, three step-grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. Brother of Hazel Fmert, Somerset RD 3; James Moore, Millard, Neb.; Ruth Rau, Omaha, Neb.; Elizabeth Enos, St. Antonio, Fla., and Flo Smith, Ligonier. Also a number of nieces and nephews. A U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Member of Somerset VFW Post 554, Boswell American Legion, Somerset REAC, FOE 1801, Somerset, and St. John's United Methodist Church. Death terminated a marriage of 46 years. Friends were received Thursday and will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday at the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home, where service will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Rev. Sherman H. Berkey. Interment, Edie Cemetery. Daily American, August 23, 1996 [M2240]
