Morgart, 80, of Geistown, Cambria County, died July 8, 1997, at his home. Born April 20, 1917, in Scalp Level. Son of John and Lenora (Ickes) Morgart. Preceded in death by parents; brother W. Harold; and sisters Vera Blackburn and Hazel Carver. Survived by wife, the former Lois Weaver, to whom he was married Dec. 28, 1940; daughter, Roberta (Bobbie), wife of Garen Black, Berlin; grandchildren: Garick Robert, Derrike Sumner and Patrick Carl Black; and twin sister, Rhoda P. Doran, Newport Beach, Calif. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church, Johnstown. Retired switchman for GTE with 40 years of service. Member of the VFW Post 155 of Richland, the Pioneer Club of GTE, Richland Area Senior Citizens and Windber High School Class of 1935. Army veteran of World War II, serving with the 131st Artillery Gun Battalion during Battle of the Bulge. Avid bowler and fan. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public viewing. Funeral service at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Henderson-Ketterer Funeral Home, Geistown, with the Rev. Earl Janssen officiating. Interment, Richland Cemetery.
