All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ JENNIE DWIRE MORRISON Mrs. Jennie Dwire Morrison, wife of Everhart Morrison, died at the home of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wicker, in South Cumberland, Maryland, on Tuesday, February 23, at 11:15 a.m., after an illness of about one month due to a paralytic stroke. She was aged 78 years, 8 months and 16 days. Jennie Dwire was born in Upper Turkeyfoot Township, Somerset County, Pa., June 9th, 1853. When quite young she married Everhart Morrison, who survives her. She is also survived by six daughters and one son: Mrs. Robert Murtland, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Edward Wicker, South Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Lucy Seaman, Morgantown, W.Va.; Mrs. Clara Wright, Cumberland, Md.; Mrs. Della Nicola, Confluence; Mrs. Nora Tannehill and Edward Morrison, Rochester, Pa. Thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren also survive. Surviving also is one half-brother, Silas Dwire, of Markleton and one half-sister, Mrs. Morrow. Two daughters preceded her to the grave. Mrs. Morrison was a sincere Christian and a kind and friendly neighbor, willing at all times to do everything in her power to relieve suffering and distress among her neighbors and friends. She was practically all her life a member of the Old Bethel Church of God, near Kingwood. Mr. and Mrs. Morrison during the last seven years made their home in Confluence, and previous to that time had lived on various farms in Upper Turkeyfoot Township. Funeral services were held in the Kingwood Church of God last Friday at 10:30 a.m., conducted by the pastor, Rev. Tampinger; assisted by Rev. Barnett of the Mount Zion United Brethren Church, followed by interment in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery, Kingwood. Among those who attended the funeral were the following: Mr. and Mrs. George W. Tannehill, Rochester, Pa.; Mrs. Robert Murtland and family, Pittsburgh; Mrs. Lucy Seaman, Morgantown, W.Va.; Mr. and Mrs. Edward Murtland and three children, Layton; Mr. and Mrs. James Berkley and son, Brownsville; Roy Murtland, Connellsville; Edward Morrison, Rochester; Mrs. Gilbert Miller, Rockwood; Mr. and Mrs. Albert Dwire and son, Somerset; Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Dwire and family and Mrs. Kate Dwire, Rockwood; Mrs. Cal Liphart, Casselman; Mr. and Mrs. Robert Hanley and two daughters, Mr. and Mrs. Harry Wright, Mrs. C. B. Wright and Mr. and Mrs. Edward Wicker and sons, Cumberland, Md. Meyersdale Republican, March 3, 1932
