"Bumper" Mort Jr., 55, Pilltown Road, Boswell, died April 19, 2004, at Memorial Medical Center after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Born May 24, 1948, in Hooversville, son of William D. Sr. and Evelyn (Decker) Mort. Preceded in death by father on Nov. 22, 1984, and grandparents, Harry and Rose Mort and John and Elizabeth Decker. Survived by mother, with whom he resided; daughters, Melissa, married to David Jenkins, Central City and Elizabeth Sullivan, Shanksville; grandson, David Jenkins; sisters, Connie, married to Michael Kubalak, Bedford and Lisa Mort, Hooversville; nephews, Bill and Matt Ling and niece, Nicole Evanshaw. A 1966 graduate of the former J.B. High School, Boswell. Army veteran of Vietnam War. Employee of Gilmour Manufacturing, Somerset. Member of Somerset Post 554 VFW. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Main Street, Boswell, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday. The Rev. Michael A. Dunlap officiating. Interment Somerset County Memorial Park. Graveside military rite by Somerset County Honor Guard.
