Mowry Sr., 75, Stoystown, died May 12, 2001 at home following a long illness. Born Dec. 11, 1925 in Fort Pierce, Fla., son of George B. and Jessie (Hiner) Mowry. Preceded in death by parents; and brothers, Sherwood and Gerald. Survived by wife of 56 years, the former LaVerne Rickels; son, Calvin H. Jr., married to the former Mary Omerzo, Central City; daughters, Frances Eloise (Iverson) Mowry, North Huntingdon; and Carol Laverne Mowry, Stoystown; granddaughters, Nicole Louise Mowry, Berlin and Lynne Ann Iverson, Stoystown; step grandsons, Derrick and Wesley Fountain, Kentucky; sisters, Audrey Jane, marred to Foster Wayne Miller and Helen Moxley, both of Bedford and Adalaid, married to Herbert Josephs, Imperial; also numerous nieces and nephews. Attended Shanksville High School. World War II Army veteran. Retired carpenter. Member of First Christian Church, Somerset; Robert P. Hite Post 257; American Legion, Stoystown and New Baltimore Sportsmen's Club. Family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Deaner Funeral Home, Stoystown, where service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Pastor Daniel F. Nicksich officiating. Interment, Schellsburg Cemetery. Legion memorial service at 7:30 p.m. Monday. In lieu of flowers donations may be given to In Touch Hospice, 1590 N.
