"Bud" 03/17/08 Daily American Everett C. "Bud" Mullen, 91, Gray, died March 14, 2008, in Hollidaysburg Veterans Home. Born March 8, 1917, in Black Township, the son of Harry and Mae (Miller) Mullen. Preceded in death by parents; first wife, the former Mary Jane Omerzo; second wife, the former Florence (Putman) Speicher; son, James L.; infant brother, Robert; sister, Gladys Stoppe; and stepdaughter, Patty Ann. Survived by children, Charles B. Mullen, married to Janet Pyle, Gray; David L. Mullen, married to Terry Wright, Acosta Road; and JoAnn (Mullen), married to William Bunting, Somerset; sister, Margaret Morgan, Gray; grandchildren, Michell Ann Wright; Christopher, Chad, Clinton, James and Michael Mullen; and Elyse Viera; and great-grandchildren, Sawyer, Forest, and Hunter Wright; Jarryd, Elijah and Caden Mullen; Giana and Michael Viera. An Army veteran of World War II and a recipient of the Purple Heart, having been wounded in action during the Italian campaign, July 1944. Also recipient of several other commendations while serving with the 91st Infantry Division. Life member of the Somerset Post 554 VFW. Also member of the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church, Gray. Retired cattle truck driver and coal tipple operator. Longtime resident of Gray prior to entering the veterans home. Thanks to the nurses and other staff members who took such great care of our father. "Bud" enjoyed cowboy movies, horses, car rides and especially "sweets." Viewing from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Monday at the Hoffman Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Main Street, Boswell, where service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday. Joe Gray, pastor, officiating. Interment, IOOF Cemetery, Rockwood, with graveside military rite in charge of the Somerset County Honor Guard.
