  MURPHY
  
    Bates H. Murphy, 74, Causeway Drive, Friedens (Lake Stonycreek),
  died Feb. 12, 1999, at Somerset Hospital.  Born April 30, 1924, in
  Portland, Oregon, son of the late Earl and Kathryn (Hartley)
  Murphy.  Survived by his wife of 51 years, the former Shirley
  Jenkins, and these children, Keith, married to the former Norma
  Prina, Murraysville, and Kathleen, married to Dwain Billmyer,
  Richmond, Va.; and grandson, Drew Murphy.  Retired from Westinghouse,
  Pittsburgh.  World War II Army Air Force veteran.  Member of
  Shanksville United Methodist Church, Rolls Royce Owners Club and
  Sigma Chi fraternity.  He enjoyed restoring foreign and classic
  cars.  Memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Shanksville
  United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Alice Jean Parker
  officiating.  Instead of flowers, contributions may be given to
  Shanksville U.M. Church or Shanksville Volunteer Fire Co.
