Born June 9, 1906 in Hooversville, a son of the late William and July (Ackney) Murphy. He is survived by one daughter, Donna Lee*. Survived by wife Martha (Batzel) Murphy and these daughters: Mrs. Joyce Clark of Illinois, Mrs. Judy Benny of Somerset;* four grandchildren and two brothers, William of Arizona, and Charles of Detroit. He was a retired coal miner and a member of the UMWA and the VFW in Hooversville, the Jenners Rod and Gun Club and the Hooversville Rod and Gun Club. Friends will be received after 7 p.m. Wednesday and 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in the Thomas P. Reed Funeral Home in Hooversville where services will be held Friday, Oct. 17 at 2 p.m. with the Rev.
