Murphy, 27, of Berlin RD 3, died March 13, 1984, in Somerset Community Hospital, as a result of injuries suffered in a mining accident March 12. Born June 10, 1956, in Bedford County, son of Carl and Helen (Leonard) Murphy. Preceded in death by brother, Thomas, and nephew, James. Survived by parents, Berlin RD 3; widow, former Diana Leister; two sons, Heath Jared and Jason Lynn; brother of: Glenn Murphy of Fayetteville, W.Va.; Larry and Robert Murphy and Eugene Albright, all of New Baltimore. Was coal miner for Berlin Mining Co. of Roxbury. Former miner with Mark Mining Co., Somerset. Member of UMWA Local 1968 for 9 years; also, New Baltimore Sportsmen's Club, Mountain Field and Stream Club and St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, New Baltimore, where Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Friday, the Rev. Ray Nolan, O.Carm. Interment, church cemetery. Friends received 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Mickle-Geisel Funeral Home, Schellsburg, where Wake Service will be held 8 p.m. Thursday. Daily American, March 14, 1984 [M2596]
