Murray, 72, 1080 Braddock Rd., Cumberland, died Sunday morning, Jan. 14, in Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was born April 28, 1890, in Meyersdale, son of the late Alvay and Louise (Strange) Murray. His wife, Elizabeth Dorothy Glessner Murray, preceded him in death. He is survived by nine children: Mrs. Earl Davos, California; Alvay J. Murray, Mrs. Charles Shannon, Mrs. John Claypoole, Baltimore; Dr. William E. Murray, Leonardtown, Md., Harry A. Murray, Johnstown, Dr. Jack L. Murray, Mrs. Jack Carnell, Mrs. Stanley Goodrich, Cumberland; also 21 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Howard Murray of Johnstown and one sister, Mrs. Harry A. Von Moose, Somerset. Mr. Murray served 50 years with the B & O Railroad, retiring in 1960. While vacationing in Florida for the winter, he suffered a heart attack at the home of a granddaughter in Fort Lauderdale. The Republic, January 18, 1962 [M2602]
