He was born Oct. 3, 1891, in Larimer Township, Somerset County, and was a son of the late Owen Murray and Mary Ann (Saylor) Murray. His wife, Mrs. Grace (Pfeiffer) Murray, preceded him in death in 1974. He was a retired stonemason, a member of St. John's United Church of Christ and a life member of the Corriganville Volunteer Fire Department. He is survived by a son Ward P. Murray, Corriganville; five daughters, Mrs. Myrtle McWilliams, Meyersdale; Mrs. Irene Riser*, Mrs. Mary Ann Andres, Mrs. Imogene Hardinger, all of Corriganville; Mrs. Carolyn M. Wood, Cumberland, Md., a brother, Alfred Murray, Meyersdale; two sisters, Mrs. Lizzie Thomas, New Bethlehem, Pa.; Mrs. Lydia Lockhart, Meyersdale; 13 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Friends were received at the Zeigler Funeral Home. Services were conducted in St. John's United Church of Christ with the Rev. James Myers officiating.
