MUSSER Rockwood Pastor Found Dead in Bed Death of Rev. J. B. Musser Believed to Have Been Caused by Bee Stings Rev. James B. Musser, pastor of the Evangelical and Reformed Church of Rockwood, died in his sleep at the parsonage early last Sunday morning. Death is believed to have been caused by a heart attack which resulted from multiple bee stings. About ten days ago Rev. Musser visited Charles Critchfield's apiary and while looking at the bees was attacked by an angry swarm. It was thought at the time he would die from the effects of the stings. The excitement and pain brought on a heart attack then. After more than a week in bed he was recuperating nicely and had walked downtown on Saturday. William D. Wable, who, with his wife, looks after the parsonage and ministered to the pastor's needs, found him dead in bed Sunday morning. Rev. Musser was born in Lincoln, Lancaster County, February 25, 1881, a son of Edward and Sarah Musser. In 1907 he was graduated from Franklin and Marshall College, Lancaster. He was ordained by the Lancaster classis, August 21, 1910. He served charges at Lititz, Orwigsburg, Elwood City, the Glade charge near Berlin, McKeansburg, Maytown, Marietta and Hublesburg. He served as secretary to the Lancaster County School Association for six years. He accepted the charge at Rockwood about four and a half years ago. In 1916 he was married to Mary Ellen Long of Manheim, who died Thanksgiving morning, 1939. He is survived by a sister, Miss Emma Musser, Lincoln, and a brother, Charles Musser, Lansdowne. Funeral services were conducted at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in the Rockwood Reformed Church, in charge of Rev. George L. Roth, pastor of the Somerset Reformed Church. The body was removed by Mills & Mickey, Rockwood morticians, to Lincoln on Wednesday, for further services and burial in the Lincoln cemetery. Meyersdale Republican, August 1, 1946
