All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/pa/somerset/ ________________________________________________ SIMON MYERS Grantsville, Maryland Relatives here received word Wednesday morning that Simon Myers, aged 76, died at the home of his brother, Henry Myers, at Oakland, about 7 o'clock Tuesday night, March 5, a victim of pneumonia. Mr. Myers was injured in a fall the early part of February, from which he never recovered, and later pneumonia developed. He was born November 25, 1863. He served several months as a private in the First Maryland Infantry during the war of 1898, and was a member of the Veterans of the Spanish American War, Potomac Encampment. Mr. Myers was unmarried. In addition to his brother, with whom he made his home, he is survived by two sisters, Mrs. Charles U. Edwards, Grantsville, who spent several days at his bedside at the last, and Mrs. Ellen Lohr, Oakland. Funeral services were conducted at Oakland Thursday afternoon in charge of the Proctor Kildow Post No. 71, American Legion. Meyersdale Republican, March 14, 1940
