Nagle, Pottsville, were held Thursday, July 21, in the Pottsville Trinity Lutheran Church, with interment in Charles Baber cemetery. Mr. Nagle, father of the Rev. Robert S. Nagle, of Berlin, was stricken with apoplexy while teaching the Men's Bible Class in his church the previous Sunday morning and died during the following night. He was prominent in church, civic and business affairs in his town and served as comptroller and director of the Pottsville Supply Company for 32 years. He was a son of the late Marcus and Sarah (Helms) Nagle. His grandfather was Brigadier General James Nagle of Civil and Mexican War fame. He was a graduate of the Pottsville High School and attended Gettysburg College. He was a member of Pulaski Lodge F. & A.M., Pottsville; Caldwell Consistory, Bloomsburg; P.O.S. of A., Pottsville; past president of the Schuylkill County Credit Exchange bureau, and at the time of his death a director of the bureau and treasurer of the Caldwell Club. Surviving are his wife, the former M. Daisy Smith; a son, the Rev. Robert S. Nagle, a daughter, Ruth, the wife of Norman Cooper, Wilmington, Del., and two grandsons. A brother, Ellsworth Nagle, Pottsville, and a sister, Mrs. Katie Hepler of Norristown, also survive. Meyersdale Republican, July 28, 1949
