Nair, 80, of 241 Loudon Road, Mercersburg, Pa., died Nov. 10, 1997, at his home. Born March 19, 1917, in Edie, he was a son of the late Harry B. and Lena (Baker) Nair. For 33 years he owned and operated Fred B. Nair TV and Appliances. Member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church of Mercersburg, and also the Loyals of the church. Member of Mercersburg Lions Club, in which he was a life member, Melvin Jones Fellow and had 46 years of perfect attendance. Director emeritus of the First National Bank of Mercersburg. Nair's former memberships include: First National Bank Board of Directors, Mercersburg Area Chamber of Commerce, Mercersburg Development Corp., Franklin County Area Development Corp., Mercersburg Borough Authority, where he served as chairman; Mercersburg Borough Council, a director of Mercersburg Financial Corp. (Also a current member of Mercersburg Sportsmen's Assoc. Inc.) Nair was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. Surviving are his wife, Dorothy (Kimmel) Nair, whom he married Feb. 14, 1943; a daughter, Linda L. (Mrs James C.) Zeger and a son Larry L. Nair, both of Mercersburg. A brother, Joseph W. Nair of Rockville, Md., and a sister, Louise Rininger of Stoystown. Four grandchildren. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church with Rev. Michael R. Brendle officiating. Burial, Fairview Cemetery, Mercersburg. Viewing from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday in Lininger-Fries Funeral Home, 47 N. Park ave. Mercersburg, and one hour prior to the service Thursday in the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church Building Fund, 8 Linden Ave., Mercersburg, Pa. 17236, or Lutheran Social Services and designated to Hospice of the Good Shepherd, 2700 Luther Drive, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.
