    Herbert S. "Herk" Nair Jr., 71, Somerset, died May 10, 2006 at the Hollidaysburg
  Veterans Home. Born Sept.5, 1934, in Somerset, he is the son of the late Herbert S. and
  Helen Mae (Merkel) Nair Sr. Also preceded in death by brothers, George and Henry Nair,
  and an infant sister. Survived by his wife, the former Lois Horner; daughter, Debra Nair,
  Somerset; grand-son, Edward Nair; brother Harry Robert Nair and wife Donna, Stoystown;
  sister-in-law, Fumie Nair, Somerset; and several nieces and nephews. Life member of VFW
  Post 554. Former owner of Nairs Scrapyard. He was also a Korean War veteran. Friends
  received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday and from 12 noon to 1 p.m. Saturday, the time
  of service, in the Robert H. Halverson Funeral Home. The Rev. Roger Huffman will
  officiate. Interment in Somerset County Memorial Park.
