Naugle, 74, of Blough Road, Hooversville RD, died Aug. 28, 2001 at Memorial Medical Center, Johnstown. Born July 21, 1927, son of Herbert J. and Florence V. (Butler) Naugle. Preceded in death by parents and foster son, John Wolf. Survived by wife, the former Dorothy J. MacLean, son David MacLean Naugle, and wife Danette, Union City, and daughter Dana Michelle McMillen, and husband Clyde, Loysville, and grandchildren Joshua, Alyssa and Abbey McMillen and Joshua, Nathan, Rachel and Hannah Day. Also survived by sisters Thelma Berkebile, Hooversville, and Darlene Carrerall and Geraldine Naugle, both of Johnstown. 1944 graduate of Shade High School and a 1948 graduate of Penn State University. After graduation, was employed by the Western Pennsylvania Artificial Breeding Co-op and the U.S. Government in Puerto Rico. In 1954, was an international farm youth exchange student to Switzerland. Also later employed by the Cooperative Extension Service in Adams County. In 1962, returned to Somerset County and engaged in dairy farming for 22 years. Was involved in leadership roles in 4-H Extension Services and the Holstein Association. Employment after retirement included insurance and real estate sales and substitute teaching. Recently retired after 33 years as a director for the Somerset Rural Electric Cooperative. Was actively involved in the Hooversville senior citizens group. Lifelong member of St. Thomas Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ridge Road, Hooversville RD where he served in various capacities and had a special interest in the Gettysburg Lutheran Seminary. Friends received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Hoffman Funeral Home, Route 403 and Church Road, Davidsville. Viewing also from 10 a.m. until the time of service 11 a.m. Friday at St. Thomas Church. The Rev. Gerald L. Myers officiating. Interment church cemetery.
