Born June 25, 1919, in New Baltimore, the daughter of the late William and Edna (Jordan) Hickey. She is also preceded in death by her husband, James H. Neilan, in 1977; brothers, Patrick and Paul Hickey; and sisters, Elizabeth Hickey and Mary Callihan. She is survived by her children, James "Jeff" Neilan and wife, Beverly, Somerset; Barbara Neilan (Nelson), Austin Texas; Jerome "Jerry" Neilan and wife, Karen, Somerset; Jane Neilan, Terence "Terry" Neilan and Timothy "Tim" Neilan, all of Austin, Texas; and Peter "Pete" Neilan and wife, Janine, Somerset; grandchildren, James Neilan II, Michelle Fuscaldo and husband, Bruce; Danielle Brinton and husband, Ben; Thomas Nelson and wife, Darby; William Nelson, Jacquelyn Nelson, Brian Neilan, Amber Neilan, Christine Neilan, India Neilan, and Heather (Flesher) Neilan and husband, Travis Flesher; and great-grandchildren, Caleb Nelson, Colton Nelson, Jacob Nelson, David, Olivia, and Sophia Fuscaldo, and Samantha Brinton. Throughout her active life, Lale enjoyed golf, tennis, swimming, skiing, travel, bowling, Tai Chi, music and reading. She was a devout Catholic and member of St. Peter's Roman Catholic Church, Somerset, where she was a choir member for many years. We, her family, consider ourselves very fortunate to have had her as a mentor, teacher, friend and inspiration and want to thank her for her love and care. Mom, you are loved and will be missed always. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at Miller Funeral Home, Somerset. A funeral Mass will be held 9:30 a.m. Friday at St. Peter's Church. Monsignor Samuel Tomaselli celebrant. Committal at Somerset County Memorial Park. A vigil for the deceased will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to St. Peter's Church, 433 W. Church St., Somerset, PA 15501.
