Neilan, 84, died Dec. 14, 1997, at Patriot Manor, Somerset, Pa. Born 1913 in Pittsburgh of J.F. (Frank) and Agnes A. (McLaughlin), then of Somerset. Preceded in death by parents and five siblings: Mary, Francis, Eileen (Byrne), James, and Sara Pat (O'Brien). Survived by three: Gertrude (Titcomb) of Largo, Fla.; Nancy Speicher of New Lexington; and John B. of Los Angeles (Sunland), Calif., plus 38 every-loving nieces and nephews. Somerset High School Class of 1931. Seton Hill College, Penn State. University of Pittsburgh, with graduate degrees in social sciences and in rural sociology. A Red Cross field agent for 1936 great flooding W.Va., N.C., S.C. Founder, owner-partner of the Cotton Patch Restaurant, Eutaw, Alabama, 30 years; of the Briar Patch Restaurant, Somerset, 10 years. owner of Briar Patch Farm, 45 years, and operator of Briar Patch Wild Mustangs 30 years. Retired social service worker for Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Formerly an officer with Black Beauty Coal Co., Rockwood. No flowers expected. Preferably much needed gifts to the Life Foundation, Wild Mustangs, 1111 South Lamb Road, Ridgecrest, Calif 93555. All persons will be gladly received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday the 17th at the Wilbur D. Miller Funeral Home, Somerset.
