"Burkey" Newman, 78, who resided at Wagner's Farm and Sugar Camp, Salisbury RD 1, died April 15, 1987, Meyersdale Community Hospital. Born Feb. 12, 1909, Salisbury, son of the late Frank and Sally (May) Newman. Besides his parents, also preceded in death by a sister, Josephine LaCavera; and two brothers, Harry and John. Survived by one brother, Lewis, Keyser, W.Va.; and two sisters, Miss Ruby Newman, Salisbury; and Mrs. Mary Belle Chaconas of Glencoe; also a friend, Leona Wagner, Salisbury RD 1. He was a member of the Salisbury Church of the Brethren. He was a veteran of World War II. Member of Salisbury American Legion and Salisbury VFW. He was a retired farmer. Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Thomas Funeral Home, Salisbury, where funeral services will be held Friday, 2:30 p.m., with the Rev. Daniel J. Whitacre officiating.
